International Patients

International Patients

South Florida is home to a very diverse population which is reflected by the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital community. Our health system includes many multilingual health care providers and special services for individuals that are non-English speakers. Every year, these services attract thousands of foreign patients who are interested in receiving nationally recognized health care, while also being supported by staff and programs that cater to the international consumer. Each international patient that comes to UM/JMH is matched with a personal health care coordinator that assists the patient and their family throughout the duration of the individual’s care.

In the case of Rehabilitation services, the UM/JMH Health System is a highly respected institution with state-of-the-art clinical care including the Ryder Trauma Center and the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Jackson. UM/JMH’s research programs for SCI are conducted by the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. These institutions have millions of dollars dedicated to research funding for projects that aim to improve the lives of individuals with SCI as well as work towards discovering a cure for SCI. There are multiple opportunities for international patients to get involved with these cutting edge studies and they informed of the research opportunities avalible to them upon admittance to the UM/JMH Health System.
